DeLuxe SUPER START milk replacer is ideal for raising kid goats. It contains more protein than most milk replacers, less fat than lamb replacers, and has no medications or antibiotics. DeLuxe SUPER START contains all milk protein sources, no artificial soy milk substitutes. DeLuxe SUPER START milk replacer mixes very easily and stays in solution.

Mixing Directions

Use the plastic cup provided to measure out DeLuxe Super Start milk replacer powder. Mix 113 grams in 710 ml of 40°C water by slowly adding powder to water while stirring. (Or mix 1/4 pound of powder in 3 cups of 104°F water.) Each cup holds about 125 grams of powder.

Hand Feeding Guidelines

Use the following schedule as a guideline for feeding reconstituted milk replacer.

Free Choice Feeding

Use a free choice feeding device (i.e., Caprine Kid Feeder) requires that the milk replacer solution be kept cold (about 4.4°C) to prevent over consumption. Kids may need to be trained to suckle from nipples, however, they will readily adapt in a day or two.

General Recommendations

Keep all equipment used for mixing and feeding thoroughly cleaned.
Newborn kids should receive colostrum as soon after birth as possible (within 3 - 4 hours).
When hand-feeding by bottle or shallow pan, milk replacer should be about 35°C (95°F).
Provide fresh clean water and a high quality dry feed on a free choice basis after kids are 7 days old.
If scouring occurs due to bacterial infection, kids may need treatment with an oral antibiotic. If scours persist seek assistance from your local veterinarian.
