From birth to three days, feed the calf colostrum from its mother. Daily liquid intake should be approximately 10% of the body weight of the calf. Mix DeLuxe Calf Milk Replacers with warmwater (38°C/ 100°F).

General Recommendations

* MR - From 12 days on, feed according to the directions on DeLuxe All Milk calf milk replacer tag.

  • Newborn calves should receive 1.4 to 1.8 liters of colostrum as soon after birth as possible (within 3 to 4 hours). For the first 3 days of life, feed 1.8 liters of colostrum twice daily to calves of large breeds and 1.4 liters of colostrum twice daily to calves of small breeds.
  • Mix only enough solution for one feeding and use clean feeding utensils. For best mixing, continuously stir with wire whip while adding powder to warm water (38°C).
  • Use a standard measuring cup to measure out the milk replacer powder. Alevel cup (250 ml) holds about 130gof powder.
  • Start feeding calf starter pellets on the 5th day of age and feed free choice through the 4th month of age. Add small amounts frequently to keep fresh.
  • Observe calves closely during the milk replacer feeding period. Avoid under feeding which may result in starvation, or over consumption which may increase incidence of scours.
  • Continue to feed milk replacer until the calf is consuming a minimum of 1/2 kg of calf starter pellets per day, which usually occurs at 5-6 weeks of age.
  • To maintain freshness, keep unused portion of DeLuxe Milk Replacer in a closed bag or sealed container.
  • Feed calves at regular hours. Keep calves in a well ventilated area free from drafts. Avoid sudden changes in temperature.
  • Keep fresh, clean water before calves at all times.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

After Colostrum milk replacer may be given to all calves.

Mix 225 grams (contents of package) with 1 liter of warm water.

For best results, feed via esophageal feeder, nipple pail or nipple bottle.
